In addition to our ongoing work with our partner agencies to bring birthdays to as many children as possible, we are working on projects to raise community awareness and participation.
JCC of Central New Jersey, Early Childhood Program
“Tikkun Olam” Preschool Project
It’s never too early to make your children aware that there are other children less fortunate than themselves right in our own community. Making kids feel great about themselves in the process of helping others is very important. In this year-long project, preschoolers are asked to donate a birthday gift, a box or party supplies for a child in need at the time of his or her birthday. The children understand that another child in their community, who shares a birthday around the same time as their birthday, will have a happy birthday because of their donation.
Other Community Service Projects
It’s Everyone’s Birthday! Parties, We periodically provide a huge “birthday party” for every child in our partner organizations on the same day. Local party businesses volunteer to donate their time and resources to giving these children a day to remember. Most children have never experienced a themed party and get to experience all the fun these parties have to offer. Please contact us if you are interested in sponsoring a party of participation as a volunteer at any of our locations.
Girl Scouts- Heart Of New Jersey, Birthday card creation and donation collection.
Community Service Days, The Birthday Box often participates in community service fairs and speaking opportunities to help us recruit volunteers and increase awareness of our organization. Please contact us if you are interested in having us participate in one of your community service days.
High School Clubs, Teen Community Service hours, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Projects – Many teens have volunteered with us to complete community service projects. We are happy to help and can tailor projects to fit the volunteers needs.
